See As We Saw - Lahaul Valley - Part III

Memories captured in our lens as we sojourned on a 14-day-long Jeep Safari meandering through the sacred Himalayas in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh...

snow -2 °C

Part III of this photo essay covers our travel through the scenic Lahaul Valley. After getting our stay permit for our stay at Chatru PWD Rest House, from the PWD offiicer at Koksar, we started off from Koksar.

Moving through the barrenness we finally reached the small oaisis of Chatru late afternoon and stopped by at Chandra Dhaba for some tea. Placing our bags in the PWD rest house we simply explored the surroundings. Becoming chefs for the evening we struggled with the pump stove but finally managed to cook a delicious dinner which we shared with Mr Khan of the Geological Survey of India, who too was camped there with his team in the PWD guest house for the last 4 months.

Next morning we paased by the mesmerizing "never seen before landsacape" and halted at Batal for a refreshing cup of tea in the lone dhaba. Thereafter we scaled through the 4451 meter high Kumzum Pass and moved into the Spiti Valley...
